Giant panda eating bamboo at the Chengdu research base

Chengdu PandasAncient Xi'an

The shortest route that pairs Chengdu's panda base with Xi'an's dynasty. Built for families and panda-anchored travellers.

The trip in one paragraph

Nine days, two cities, the gentler arc. Chengdu for the pandas and the tea-house pace, Xi'an for the warriors and the city wall. Best for families travelling with children old enough to remember the panda morning and short enough for a two-week annual leave window. Same driver across both cities, met at the airport.

Your route

Nine days,
two cities,
one driver between them.

  1. Days 1-4
    Chengdu

    Pandas and tea-house pace

Four nights in central Chengdu. Panda Research Base at the 7:30 am opening when the bears are eating, an afternoon at the Jinli walking street, a hot-pot dinner with a local guide who orders for the table. A second panda morning if your party wants it, or the Wulong karst day trip.

    This stop
    • Panda Research Base at first opening with a keeper introduction
    • Jinli walking street and the Wenshu Monastery tea house
    • Sichuan hot pot with a local guide ordering for the table
    • Optional day trip to Dujiangyan and Mount Qingcheng, or Mount Emei
  2. Days 5-9
    Xi'an

    The dynasty before

High-speed rail north, five nights inside the walled city. Warriors at first opening with private pit walks, Huaqing Palace and the imperial hot springs, a bicycle ride along the city wall at sunrise, the Muslim Quarter food walk at dusk. We close the trip at Xi'an airport with the same driver from day one.

    This stop
    • Terracotta Warriors before the school groups
    • Private pit walks where the archaeology is still in progress
    • Huaqing Palace and the imperial hot springs
    • Xi'an City Wall by bicycle at sunrise
    • Muslim Quarter food walk at dusk
Why this route

Nine days,
two icons,
no wasted morning.

  • Panda base early entry, before the bears finish breakfast. We brief the day on the drive in.

  • Same driver across Chengdu and Xi'an, met at the train station. Not a handover.

  • Hot-pot night with a local guide who orders for the table. Not a tourist hot-pot chain.

  • No jade factory, no silk showroom, ever.
